The Creative Portrait: Fourth Annual Exhibition, 2018
I recently applied to The Creative Portrait exhibition, presented by the Los Angeles Center of Photography. I felt it was a long shot, but I was wrong! Three of my photographs were accepted into the online gallery and I am thrilled. I have so much respect for the jurors and wanted them to at least see my work. Thank you to all for the the attentive and caring work to curate and present this show. I will be in Los Angeles for the opening on Saturday evening, December 15, 2018. Perhaps I'll see you there!Update: I went to the opening and had a wonderful time meeting the jurors and other artists. Thank you David Fahey and Nick Fahey for selecting three of my images for the show. You can read the details here at LACP.
Here are the Exhibition Stats:
"191 different photographers from around the country submitted for the exhibition, representing a total of 1,253 photographs. From these, our jurors selected 45 images (from 34 photographers) for the exhibition at the Los Angeles Center of Photography, December 15, 2018 – February 1, 2019 (we extended the exhibit by two weeks). In addition, 94 images (from 62 photographers) were selected for a virtual online gallery display on LACP’s website." (For you math nerds, 1253 photos were submitted and 139 photos were chosen; that works out to 11%.)David Fahey and his son Nicholas Fahey were this year’s jurors. Here is a little about them and their wonderful Los Angeles gallery:The Fahey/Klein Gallery is devoted to the enhancement of the public’s appreciation of the medium of photography through the exhibition and sale of 20th Century and Contemporary Fine Art Photography. Since the gallery's inception, our exhibition program has embraced a broad range of diverse photographers from Edward Weston to Berenice Abbott; Man Ray to Henri Cartier-Bresson; Irving Penn to Melvin Sokolsky; Horst P. Horst to Herb Ritts; Peter Beard to James Nachtwey, among many others. The Fahey/Klein Gallery is a leader in the field of Photography and is respected among collectors and colleagues. This position of leadership is a result of our dedication to the medium of photography, experience, and knowledge, which, over the many years, has been enhanced by the wide range of services the gallery offers. The gallery staff has extensive experience in curating private and corporate collections, as well as selling and placing large private collections. Additionally, the gallery has an active program of offering secondary market works and consigned photographs to its broad collector base.
